There’s nothing like a bit of a hiatus from blog posting to clear your mind. I’ve been spending my waking hours getting used to the hackintosh and making music with Logic (vs Cubase and ProTools). I can’t say enough good things about Logic…makes GarageBand look like a balloon toy. Yeah, it has some shortcomings, but I think that’s just part of my own switch. The integration with my M-Audio O2 and Korg PadKontrol is seamless, and I have slightly lower latency on my Firewrie 1814 as well. I’ve started putting together new tracks for a new record, which will be somewhat of a departure from Four Years. I’ve been playing a lot with pedals and routing on my turntables, as well as looping unconventional sounds into beats….Ikea pen holders, computer cases as bass drums, etc….

In the meantime, check out this chic…i dare you to listen to this song and NOT have it stuck in your head the rest of the day. I’ll be seeing her at Great Scott in Allston in a couple of weeks. Should be neat to watch. If you like Peter Bjorn and John, you’ll dig Theresa Andersson.

Time flies when you have your nose buried in work. I’ve been in the midst of updating my other site, BasementNerd.com, since that was in serious neglect, as well as building a new PC.

I’ve fallen off of the broadcast wagon the past few weeks, and have been only playing prerecorded mixes, or general playlists from iTunes. It’s time to get back to proper shows…stay tuned for an update.

Meanwhile, I found this video the other day. I’m sure it’s not exactly new to a lot of you, but I thought it timely and relevant. Enjoy.

Instead, I will either A) Replay a previous show or B) Play an entire night of LIFE Boston.

This morning, as I hopped on the Movement board like I do every morning as part of my post-gym pre-cofee ritual, I noticed this video (zZz is playing – “Grip”). Ed from pentdego.com hipped me to it.
This is exactly what a video should be. I especially dig the way they have the guy painting the track progress across the bottom of the screen.

Unfortunately, there will not be a show tonight. I am involved in a completely shitty situation at work, and I’d rather not have that bleed over into the production. Sorry for the late notice.

Good week all around for the radio station. The show on Monday night went better than expected, and we also had follow up shows by Mike and Ed.
But I think everyone is gearing up for the next installment of Old Yist Radio this evening at 9pm EST. Drop by the chathole and join the conversation as we decide how to save the youth center.

As I prep for Monday night, I welcome all comments, suggestions, bit ideas, or naked photographs (no goatse please). Hopefully, I will be able to get my ass into the booth over the weekend and start raising the quality of my production.

I’m also looking into solving my microphone issues. At the moment, I am using a Studio Project B3 condenser mic. It’s a great mic, but I find that it’s rumbling a bit too much. Perhaps I have some settings incorrect, or the compressor I am using is on the fritz.

I’ll be updating this site as new music becomes available, but it is basically a placeholder for now as I get ready for my wedding. WOW it’s been a long time since I’ve updated here… I did an impromptu radio show last night. Big ups to Adam and Ian for checking in…I wasn’t expecting a large audience. Going to be travelling again on Monday…San Jose has sent up the signal and needs me…it’s tough being a hero. Be sure to go to Soul Revival on Saturday the 24th as DJ Adam Gibbons will be giving his last performance before he moves out to the badlands of New Mexico. I’ll be there…so should you. I have to give it to Centon who is taking back a stick of RAM with very little trouble. That’s just good customer service. As you can tell, I’m not exactly witty today, so I’ll cut it short. Sorry…just not in the writing mood…
